Looking back on the last year’s events in South Walton and the world as a whole, we have seen tremendous changes and new directions of growth for the Watersound Origins community. As many regions of the United States have noticed, we have seen a great shift of people moving from densely populated cities in search of lower density, fresh air, and a better quality of life that can be found here at the beach. Many learned that they could now work from home and better yet, work from anywhere. Without the necessity of living near the office, why not make the move to a favorite vacation spot where you’ve dreamed of living? Not only have so many young families, single adults, and retired couples found their home in the Watersound Origins community in 2020, but we have also welcomed those from all over the country. In past years, the majority of Watersound Origins buyers have come from the Southeast region of the U.S. and local areas, but 2020 brought folks from new areas we have rarely (if ever) served before including New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Colorado, California, Arizona, Montana, and Utah.
From 2019 to 2020, Watersound Origins new home sales more than doubled year-over-year, ending 2020 with 204 new home contracts! Construction never stopped throughout the last year and continues at a fast pace to meet demand.

Watersound Town Center
New development at the Watersound Town Center is bringing this new hub to life! The next exciting additions to the Town Center include a farmer’s market pavilion and a Publix Super Market! Watersound Origins residents will soon enjoy convenient access to shops, restaurants, the grocery store, and a fantastic weekly farmer’s market just a golf cart or bike ride from their front door. Plans call for approximately 200,000 square feet of retail and office space including the Ascension Sacred Heart healthcare facility, now open.
Take a look at the progress on the Watersound Origins townhomes phase! Plans call for two-story, three-bedroom townhomes, each with their own garage. Residents will have access to all of the Watersound Origins amenities including the Village Commons swimming pool, fitness center, the sport courts, access to Lake Powell, and network of hiking and biking trails. Hi Tanika…we are close friends of Wendy & Dan Cooper. We’ve been coming to Florida for 12 years & love it! We are in escrow on our home in CA & we are placing things into storage & taking our RV with 2 dogs to explore & find our favorite place. We are both retired & not certain at our age we want to buy, lease or rent. We are looking for 2 bedrooms, one level, one car garage, pet friendly, fitness center on or close to the beach! Wendy said you know Florida & might be able to send us some tips or things to look at. We should arrive in Florida in April-May sometime. We have another couple who is interested in buying.
